May MacCormick, former Dumfriesshire Federation President, won the Reserve Champion Award at the Royal Highland Show Handicrafts Competition for her fingerless gloves, which she chose to knit in the Sanquhar pattern. May said "It was a real surprise to win. I entered this year because I just liked the idea of doing fingerless gloves. I've made lots of Sanquhar items over the years but I made these gloves specifically for the show, using mustard wool to represent the gold in the Olympics theme. "
